souls lost in time

Krishna is Everywhere

Krishna is where His devotees are chanting His holy names together in love and devotion.

But Krishna is also everywhere. He is in everyone's heart and in every atom.

He is always protecting us especially if we turn to Him or think of Him.

Age of Quarrel

Today I had a soccer game. For me it was a time to be outdoors, get some exercise and have some fun. I had spent the morning doing kirtana with some nice friends so I felt happy!

Narrow minded thinking

"In Krishna Consciousness we do not think, 'My brother is good, and I am good, but all others are bad'. This is the kind of narrow, crippled consciousness we reject. Rather, in Krishna consciousness we look equally toward all living entities." Srila Prabhupada from Teachings of Queen Kunti pg. 57 chapter 9

Hare Krishna

Just want to say Hare Krishna, and feeling how fortunate we are to know about this happy process of chanting, dancing, prasadam, simple living, and a path to lasting happiness.
That's all.

The Tiger and the Snake

Magical Day

Lately I have been feeling spiritually frustrated.
I moved closer to the temple, and thus spend more time there, and less time out in the world distributing. I have been feeling sad and kind of dead inside.

Tolerance

I visited the Museum of Tolerance a couple weeks ago (an outing we went on at my place of employment). The lessons taught were valuable and heart touching. The museum showed examples in history in which outer bodily distinctions like race, religion, gender, culture, and handicaps turned people against each other, like in the holocaust and segregation in America. Spiritual life is one solution to such problems, because the goal of real spiritual life is to become free from bodily designations—to not see ourselves and others as black, white, male, Christian, Hindu, teacher, lawyer, etc. but to know and see the essence of each person as a spirit soul.

Different Levels of Prison

Hare Krishna.
Well, I visited two different "mental health patients" today in two different types of locked facilities. One in a locked hospital - no escape, no way out, has to stay there until they determine he is ok to move on to another place.
The other in a jail/prison for the mentally ill who committed some kind of crime. Even more locked up, less priveleges, and when visiting we had to speak over a phone facing each other by the window - no physical contact allowed.

Think Outside the Box; Empower versus comfort

Hare Krishna.

I have the good God given fortune to work at a place that challenges staff and clients to think outside the box, to challenge our daily habits and routines, to do things consciously and with purpose, and to reach our human potential.

Lately we have been speaking about two things that make me think about Krishna consciousness and the way we practice it.

First, we are focusing on breaking out of routines, out of our daily little comfort box we live in, going to new places, meeting new people, trying new tasks, etc. There is a big world out there with unlimited possibilities if we put on our creative hats, but human beings have a tendency to get stuck in the comfort of routine.

Krishna Rocks my World!!!

Krishna is really amazing!!! He arranges things so nicely. Tonight I was convinced that He is really there making things happen so magically!!!! We need just be instruments in His mission!!

Last night I met a lady at the grocery store, offered her a book, she said she had the Gita already and liked the Krishna vegetarian food. We spoke more and since she lives close by I told her I would bring her Krishna food some time, so she gave me her phone number and address. I promised to bring food soon.

The Silent Protest

At my school yesterday, there were a lot of people doing the silent protest to bring about awareness of the mistreatment of people who are homosexual. Ironically, His Grace Sankarshan Das Adhikari received a question regarding homosexuality. I thought I would share this with all of you. =]

Question: Are Gay People Demons?

Greetings to you. I bow to you and all the wonderful work you are doing for the good of the world.

A Fool For Love

I didn't write this poem but I thought it was lovely!

Is it really so surprising
that anyone--even a senior--
would be a fool
for love and intimacy?

So many are affected
by the lure of infatuated love,
the need to be understood, appreciated
and accepted by a dear friend.

Whenever I hear or
make a criticism, I know
what I see is also
within me, at least potentially.

By Chanting The Names of the Lord you will be Free.

Today I went to a meditation retreat. It was nice. I was struggling for awhile because I was attempting to just do the breath method but then I decided to focus on Krishna's name and that morphed into me actually chanting in my head. It is hard to chant Hare Krishna with out moving your tongue or mouth but that made me really concentrate on the mantra. From then on the day went very quickly.

You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger.

I work at a movie theatre. After the movies we have to clean up the theatre. Throw away all the cups and bags that people leave behind. Usually people are pretty good about picking their stuff up because we have a pretty intelligent clientele. But monday night we had a special event—these college aged kids made a movie.

Yes, you can get an A+ too!

We all have struggles; every single one of us. And we are suffering through them, constantly in battle with maya. She is always testing us, even when we least expect her to. She wants to make sure that we love Krishna enough to resist the temptation she has laid out before us.

~ A Day in the Life of Sri Radha ~

Here's how Sri Radhika spends Her day
She rises and does Her teeth Her own way
Sakhis come and massage with oils so fine
They bathe Her body that has a brilliant shine
The Sakhis clothe Her with loving sentiments
Then they decorate Her with gorgeous ornaments
We can assist these Gopis if we sincerely pray
Making tasty arrangements for Sri Radhika's day
Next, She goes with Her friends to Yasoda's house
Wearing a blue sari with a jewel embroidered blouse
She calls Her Sakhis and together they make haste

Happiness

When one is in the mode of goodness he is always happy. And when one is in purified goodness, in trasncendence, he is ecstatic. However when one is in ignorance or passion he is not happy (Bg 14.11).
