Hare Krishna Please accept my most humble obesisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and our ISKCON Gurus!
I am no writer, so I will keep this short. I have spent the last six months experiencing the fruits and joys of internet preaching, exploring different methods of doing so. Skype, myspace, youtube, facebook, and Krishna.com Livehelp... During my six months serving on livehelp, I would say the majority of callers are really seeking out association, and thinking of questions for the sole purpose of just speaking to a devotee. Advice of visiting the temple, and keeping in touch with the devotees there, making friends, still seems to be a daunting idea for many of those people. With modern age technology upon us, people are finding a safety zone behind their computer screens, loosing touch with the old fashioned awkwardness of first meetings and conversations. Usually I am asked to provide some form of chatroom, or social networking internet site. I also spend a lot of time using these types of things; I ended up somehow with a facebook account and all the rest, and actually I did meet many nice devotees through this. Krishna.com also maintains a small, profile based kind of networking, but not quite on the same level. So my question is, do we have some kind of facebook or devotianal chat room for Vaisnavas? If so maybe it could do with a little promotion. There seems to be quite a demand for this kind of thing. I am aware of sanga.lv, but that's a little off, as most of it is in Russian. I just wonder if anybody thinks this kind of site would be useful, or necessary, worth the time to put together? Thank you so much for taking the time to read this very long question. My apologies for any errors and mistakes I have made Your Servant Bhaktin Jennifer

Satsang (Sanskrit sat = true, sanga = company) describes the pursuit of association with those seeking the "highest truth," most importantly, the company of a guru... Can association be done digitally, in Truth? I do not think so. These are tools, sometimes useful, but not to be confused with the real thing.
Naturally, we can take the actual and original works of Prabhupada as the 'real thing', because his words were composed, edited, and checked by him. Furthermore, he directed us to consider his teachings non-different than him, and prepared, spoke, and wrote with that in mind. Association with Devotees, however, is another matter.
We are no longer in the "modern" era, but the 'post modern', the beginning of the age of Kali; the Kali Yuga. It is in this age that: "Religion, truthfulness, cleanliness, tolerance, mercy, physical strength and memory diminish with each passing day." (Srimad-Bhagavatam 12.2.1)
We see the growing deceit and deception growing exponentially, all around us. We must therefore be suspect of any corporate entities which scour for and collect information from us, while giving us a 'service' for FREE. Is anything, in the material world, ever really free?
It is well documented that many of these social website services have an agenda. They utilize the collected data on you and your associates for their own ends. Ties to military/government agencies are not limited... Fill in the blanks. Then there are the nasty issues of promoting Socialism as a mind-set and political philosophy... We live in the age of illusion, delusion, and increasing strife, where demons pose as friends - offering free gifts.
Again, many online services are useful tools, if used within careful parameters, but the God given choice is clear: Either 'Twitter' away the precious moments we we have been given, in this life; or, for our real spiritual advancement, be in the actual presence of those who seek the Truth.
