Beliefnet is one of the greatest and most prominent religion-focused forums. Articles by VIPs like the Dalai Lama appear there and all major and minor traditions have their discussion forums. It also hosts general discussions and debating forums where members of major traditions are challenged by materialists (mainly in link). ;) It's Hinduism community discussion forums (link) are visited by all kinds of new people (including students writing their papers) asking serious questions. The problem is that there are also regulars who make it a point to present their misconceptions to them as genuine. So with other few Vaishnavas I try to straighten things up by quoting sastra with Vaishnava siddhanta (I try to present a general Vaishnava point of view, not just Gaudiya, showing Vaishnavism as the major tradition, vis-a-vis advaita, etc.) in a matter-of-fact way, only occassionally challenging nonsense-posters. This sometimes sparks a debate in which they are shown as mere POV-pushers, unable to base their view on any authority. It shows 'who is who' and sincere people appreciate it. If you wish, take a look, get the 'feel,' and join us. ys Jan |
